August 3, 2017 Mandahl Dogleg 360 Cam Observations 1400 – 1500
360 Shallows Cam (270 degree field of view), Mandahl Bay APC Wilderness Preserve
These eight videos represent approximately one hour of 360 degree stand alone camera observation in the shallows on the north edge of the Mandahl Bay APC Wilderness Preserve Dogleg jetty. The observation was made on August 3, 2017 from 2 pm AST to 3 pm.
Because of the way light behaves on lenses underwater, the 360 view becomes 270 degrees. The missing image data is represented by a black ring around the center of the 360 field. Reviewing ‘hide cam’ footage can provide a lot of information about species and population numbers in certain parts of Mandahl Bay at various times of year. By taking underwater observations in specific locations on scheduled days, a life map baseline can be created that assists in monitoring impacts of Eco-system change and climate changes. Environmental Rangers will monitor and analyze these videos as part of their Eco-education curriculum.
